ILIFFE YARD

ABOUT

Daniel Reynolds’ recent ceramic work includes large hand built vessels in stoneware, glazed in block colour using mostly dolomite studio glazes. (Various acid yellows, warm greys and chalky whites have prevailed of late.)

Pieces of this kind are available from Cavaliero Finn, (cavalierofinn.com) and from Charlene Mullen at 7 Calvert Avenue, London EP7 7JP (charlenemullen.com)

In addition he has a range of vessels, hand cast in porcelain, based on organic shapes and on every day disposable or disused industrial objects.

Newest work has seen Daniel return to abstract sculpture; in this case in the form of mobiles using porcelain, hand made glass and stoneware, suspended from steel frameworks.

To this series he has added a group of vibrant pieces based on abstractions of the 3D grid format. Using hand shaped stoneware elements, the result is a sort of ‘soft edged’ geometry on a human scale.

Daniel is currently showing industrial based porcelain pieces at the recently opened  ‘New Territories’ exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. The exhibition will be on until April 2015, after which it will travel to the Amparo Museum in  Puebla, Mexico. www.newterritorieslab.org

There are currently three of Daniel’s mobile sculptures on show in the Orangery at the new Ham Yard Hotel in Soho, London. (1 Ham Yard, London W1D 7DT). The Crosby Street Hotel in New York has work from his ‘Organica’ range in hand cast porcelain, on show in their main lobby. ( Firmdale Hotels, New York )

Public collections include: Banco Mercantil, Caracas, Venezuela, Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, New York.
